Are they so stressed because they don’t know their own self-worth? Are they trying to live up to the expectations of others? Maybe they have not yet discovered who they want to be. We must help them to find their passion, and we must do it quickly, lest someone who lacks compassion tries to dehumanize them or deflate their vision. Perhaps they are intellectually challenged and may seem awkward to some. We must help them to understand the words of William Shakespeare . . . “This above all – To thine own self be true…”
Each of us is born with a gift and some of us gifts. We must tap into that area of our souls to accomplish what we were born to do, with or without mental health challenges. Do they need a mentor, a friend, a confidant, or just someone who understands what they are going through? Who is that person or maybe group of people that can wrap their loving arms around them, and show they genuinely care for them; and want to be a beacon of hope? The power of persuasion goes a long way! It is our duty to help our fellow man, that’s where the word humanity comes from. Truly, no man is an island. Look around you. Listen up. Pay attention to see or notice if there is someone in your immediate circle that may need you. It doesn’t take a lot to be kind. A warm smile is the universal language of kindness. ~ William Arthur Ward
