Our daughter ___________ was physically assaulted by a male student, ___________________. As the students were getting ready to head home, apparently, the young man thought that ___________ had bumped into him purposefully, but she did not. He became violently angry and impulsively snatched her phone from her, threw it down on the floor and shattered it! Then, he shoved her up against the lockers and said, “Don’t do it again!” After this reaction, ___________ did push the young man back in self-defense. Several of the students ran to tell ___________ of this incident. ___________ told us that he would be in charge of this incident. We have been in constant communication with ___________, ___________ and ___________ throughout this entire school year, yet to no avail. At one point, ___________ tried to reassure us that ___________ would not have to deal with the other student for the rest of summer school. However, there was no incident report, or police report filed, and we are very concerned about that. Nor was there ever a meeting with the other parents to discuss this incident or for them to replace our daughter’s damaged phone that their son destroyed. Had it been ___________ to break his phone, and assault him, there would have been repercussions. Two weeks before summer school was over; the day that we were under the impression that we were having a meeting with the other parents; there was a meeting in ___________ office. However, when we arrived, there were several unexpected people present. We felt ambushed. This meeting never addressed the real issue, concerning the assault and the damaged property, (___________ phone) which again, has yet to be resolved. We were very upset! On another note, there has been bullying going on by the staff towards ___________. and the bullying of another student by the name of ___________, who seems to be favored by the the ___________ staff. There is a more specific incident where ___________ stopped ___________ and told her she did not appreciate the “dirty look” that she had given her. She then preceded to pull our daughter’s friend (___________) away from her, and the other friends (___________, ___________ and ___________). She then told ___________ that our daughter was a bad influence. We have written documentation from this student verifying this incident. Is ___________ staff permitted to bully students? Not as defined in your Employee Handbook policy! These actions are most certainly being tolerated at the campus level. In addition to the above mentioned incidents, both of our daughters (___________ & ___________) have been singled out, and called “ghetto girls” by the daughter of one of the staff members of ___________. The student that did the name calling is ___________, daughter of one of your coaches, ___________. In addition, as expressed by your Student Handbook, nor are students permitted to bully students, nor discriminate! This incident was witnessed by two other students, ___________ and ___________. Nothing has ever been done concerning this incident either! There seems to be a huge injustice and much inequality going on at this campus. This behavior has been threatening to our daughters and has caused much duress to ___________ during this school year. She does not feel safe! On Thursday, April 12, 2018, ___________ started another altercation with ___________! Once again, bullying our daughter. Without any explanation, ___________ was suspended for two days and ___________ was not. There is still no explanation considering ___________ started the incident! ___________, who is now serving as an Assistant Principal was in charge of the suspension. We were not even notified that ___________ was no longer the AP in charge. Where is the communication to parents? Also on Thursday, April 24, 2018, there was also a random police search during the middle of our daughter’s 1st period Biology class. ___________ is the instructor. Two police officers entered the classroom and called the teacher out of the classroom for approximately three minutes to inform him of the search. The students wondered why the officers were there. The students were asked to step out of the classroom and the police mentioned they would check some of the students bags. ___________ bag was checked, along with maybe one or two other students. However, there was no notification given to us that explained what warranted the search or why it was performed. We feel that our daughter was targeted. We have exhausted all means of making every effort to be in partnership and communication with this campus, but things are simply not being handled in an ethical and professional manner.
