When You Pray

Have you ever prayed and gotten discouraged because it seemed your prayers weren’t going to be answered, or maybe your prayer didn’t “get through,” so to speak? Perhaps, you thought God didn’t hear you at all. Be assured God hears you when you pray; as this story in Daniel so distinctly reminds us. Daniel 10:12-13 (The Living Bible Paraphrased) 1. 12 . . .Then he said, “Don’t be frightened, Daniel, for your request has been heard in heaven and was answered the very first day you began to fast before the Lord and pray for understanding; that very day I was sent here to meet you.” 1. 13 . . .“But for twenty-one days the mighty Evil Spirit who overrules the kingdom of Persia blocked my way. Then Michael one of the top officers of the heavenly army, came to help me, so that I was able to break through these spirit rulers of Persia.” What an excellent illustration to remind us that God hears us when we pray. God wants us to trust Him and believe when we pray. Mark 11:24 – (NKJV) “Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” Prayer is simply a form of communication. Although, the Lord knows what we desire before we ask, He still wants to hear from us. It’s similar to communicating with someone you live with. Communication makes you closer. It brings intimacy in the relationship. Get to know Him through prayer. As parents, we want our children to communicate with us. We want to know the details of their lives. It’s the same with God. He wants to know you! Can you think of anything more important than spending time with God? Another scripture to assist us in building our confidence in God when we pray is I John 5:14-15. (NKJV) “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of him.” So, I just want to remind you . . . “Don’t lose your confidence, when you pray.” This article was written by: Arnita L. He Cares for You By now many of us have likely heard the song, “His Eye Is on The Sparrow.” Indeed, it is! Not one sparrow . . . can fall to the ground without your Father knowing it. And the very hairs of you head are numbered. So, don’t worry! You are more valuable to Him than many sparrows. (Matthew 10:29-31 – The Living Bible Paraphrased). Many times, in life we get very busy and bogged down living our fast paced, everyday lives. Even at times we may wonder, “When will I have time to stop and rest?” I Peter 5:7 reminds you to… Cast all your care upon Him, for He cares for you. (NKJV) So, when the enemy (Satan) tries to discourage you and make you feel or think no one cares about you, go ahead and tell him, out loud, “My Heavenly Father cares for me!” We should not be caught off guard for the word clearly warns us about him. Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary, the devil walks about like a roaring lion seeking whom he may devour. I Peter 5:8 (NKJV) (He’s acting like a lion, but is not one, and whom he may devour means he needs permission.) So, should he come knocking at your door with foolishness, temptation or whatever . . . Resist him, steadfast in the faith knowing that the same sufferings are experienced by your brotherhood in the world. (I Peter 5:9 NKJV) Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God; I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness. Isaiah 41:10 (KJV) “Either we will spend our lives trying to take care of ourselves or we will let go and let God take care of us as we put our faith and trust in Him.” ~Joyce Meyer “It is predictable that God will take care of us. What’s unpredictable is how He will do it.” ~ Donna VanLiere “God stands by you when you are down and out; guides you when you think of quitting; inspires you when things seem confusing. God knows! God sees! God cares!” ~sms This article was written by: Arnita L. Ware, Author Published in FWBN (Fort Worth Black News) *********************************************************
